Staurolite is a formal mineral species, an iron-aluminium silicate known for natural cross-shaped twins. Fairy Stone and Fairy Cross are documented popular names for those twins. Fake, glued, or carved ‘fairy cross’ specimens exist and must be disclosed. Twinning must be natural when a piece is represented as a Fairy Cross. Collectors may keep it for study and display. It is not medical care.
